Dr. Kenneth J. Neat

Dr. Kenneth J. Neat is a kindergarten teacher at DC Public Schools, recognized for more than two decades of dedicated leadership and advocacy in early childhood education. As a Black parent, educator, researcher, and activist, he passionately supports BCDI-DC’s mission to uplift Black children and families through equitable education, policy leadership, and transformative programs. Throughout his 17-year career serving Washington, DC, Dr. Neat has worked at the intersection of classroom teaching, community engagement, social justice, and program development.​

Dr. Neat’s professional journey includes roles as educator, Head Start Director, and leader in faith-based and nonprofit organizations supporting Black families. He is respected for his visionary leadership, advocacy skills, and commitment to bridging gaps in access to resources, championing equitable opportunities, and fostering collaborative partnerships. His academic expertise covers education, literacy, leadership, and policy, informing his holistic approach to addressing systemic disparities and advancing sustainable solutions for children and families.​

Dr. Neat seeks to help create impactful programs, build strong community alliances, and leverage diverse perspectives to drive educational excellence and social change for Black youth and their families.
