Board Chair

Ihkeem Ma’at is the Founder and CEO of The Bookshelf Project, Inc. and serves as Board Chair for BCDI-DC.  Ihkeem leads the organization’s strategic vision and governance in support of advancing educational equity and the well-being of Black children and families. As Board Chair, he facilitates board meetings, cultivates a collaborative culture among board members, and works closely with the President executive leadership team to ensure effective planning, oversight, and community engagement. Ihkeem plays a pivotal role in building relationships with key stakeholders, mentoring board leaders, and championing initiatives aligned with BCDI-DC’s purpose-driven mission. His dedication to elevating the impact of BCDI-DC is reflected in his commitment to stewardship, advocacy, and fostering innovative solutions for Black children and families in Washington, DC
