Jessica Armstead

Secretary

Jessica Armstead is a Howard University Social Work PhD candidate and passionate child advocate with a strong focus on advancing the well-being of Black children and families. Her experience includes meaningful work with BCDI DFW Village, where she helped implement initiatives centered on community empowerment, educational support, and cultural enrichment for children and families. Jessica’s leadership in program development, community engagement, and strategic planning is informed by both her academic journey and direct service, ensuring that her efforts align with and actively support BCDI-DC’s mission.​

Jessica is committed to promoting equitable access to educational opportunities and resources, emphasizing the creation of supportive environments where Black children can thrive academically and socially. Her advocacy is complemented by organizational skills and experience collaborating with diverse stakeholders, making her well-equipped to serve as Secretary and Membership Engagement lead on the BCDI-DC Board. Jessica actively engages with families, advocates, and fellow board members to create lasting, positive change in the lives of Black children and their communities.
